7am. It’s about 4 hours prior to the time when I actually feel comfortable with being awake these days, but I am up and out and excitedly exercising my right as an American to vote for the next President. Now all that is left to do is anxiously anticipate tonight’s results. I’m not dismissing the possibility of a riot at my school if Obama wins. In fact, I’m kind of expecting it.
10 AM and I am hurriedly writing pages and pages of notes and facts in preparation for my conference call with my insurance company at 11:45. I’m looking up facts and figures for the average cost of treatment of diabetic complications and pulling out quotes from CGMS studies. By the end of it, I’ve got 5 pages of arguments and I’m confident with my information, but less than thrilled with my confidence in actually speaking about it. But… what is this?!
11am. I’m walking down Forbes avenue. A call. The insurance company has edited their policies, re-reviewed my second appeal, and now I am APPROVED FOR COVERAGE OF A CGMS? YES!!! I turn to my friend and explain the situation, speaking faster than I probably ever have. “…and.. the point is.. I’m APPROVED!” She laughs at my excitement- we utter a collective “WOOOOOO!!”, high five, and I proceed to do a little victory dance amongst the crowds of class goers waiting for the light on Forbes.
The company also specifically mentioned my letter in influencing them to approve, does this mean that someone at the insurance company… has a heart? Today is a beautiful day. If you are fighting for approval of a CGMS… Don’t give up!!!!!!

I saw your status on Facebook and I had to come see if you had written anything yet. Congrats! Also yay of voting!
